The Youth@BC project is a partnership between the province, youth,
public libraries and corporations to provide young people with summer work
opportunities in B.C. community libraries. Through this government
project, students have been hired at each participating library to develop
Web pages and to implement Internet training programs for the general
public.
Along with providing summer employment and technical skill enhancement for
students, a final product of the Youth@BC project will be Internet
training available to all members of the general public. This program
will allow citizens without home computers or personal connections to the
Internet to still have access to the Internet and other computer related
resources.
This project is part of the Youth Options BC provincial initiative that
will create up to 17,000 new job and training positions for young people
this year. Youth@BC was also made possible by the program contributors,
mentoring corporations, and program sponsors listed below.
